Earthplace, The Nature Discovery Center has planned a candidates' forum on environmental issues on Monday, Oct. 21, featuring candidates for first and second selectman.
Earthplace said the program, which will take place at 10 Woodside Lane, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception at which attendees may meet the candidates. The forum will follow at 7:30 p.m.
The forum's format will be as follows, Earthplace said:
A candidate will be asked a question about the environment and given the opportunity to answer. That candidate's opponent then will be given a chance to comment on the question. A discussion about the issue among all four candidates then will ensue.
Each ticket will be allowed to make opening and closing statements.
Questions will be submitted by the Earthplace board of trustees, the Westport Green Task Force, the Staples High School Advanced Placement Environmental Science class. Questions submitted by the public during the reception also will be considered.
Earthplace said it expects the forum will last about 90 minutes.
Earthplace is at 10 Woodside Lane.
