Connecticut Dachshund Rescue has planned its 14th annual Dachshund Reunion on Saturday afternoon, June 2, on Jesup Green.

The event is planned from 1 to 3 p.m. on the green in front of the Westport Public Library. Donations will benefit effort to rescue Dachshunds and place them with adoptive owners.

The celebration of the breed will begin with a parade of Dachshunds adopted through rescue groups and shelters, organizers said, and will include contests such as bobbing for hot dogs, best kisser, best tail-wagger, fastest dog and oldest dog.

Last year's reunion drew 60 dachshunds, although as many as 100 have showed up at previous gatherings, organizers said.

Although the majority of dogs are from southern Connecticut, some typically come from as far away as Long Island, New Jersey and Albany, N.Y., organizers said.
