Charles W. Lucas II, 58, of Westport, died July 2, 2010, in Westport.

He was born on Sept. 18, 1951, in Fort Worth, Texas, a son of the late "Luke" and "Cooke" Lucas.

Lucas, a 1972 graduate of the University of Texas, enjoyed a long career in specialty retail. He held executive positions for Neiman Marcus, Tiffany & Co., Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue and J. Peterman.

He and his wife, Katie, moved to Westport in 1987. His philanthropic spirit was integral in helping sustain the good works of numerous charities and nonprofit organizations. An avid runner, he ran in 19 New York marathons and 22 Minuteman races.

Lucas is survived by his wife, Katie; a son, Charlie; his sisters, Bobbi McClemens in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Betty Miller in Holiday, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at Christ & Holy Trinity Church in Westport on Saturday, July 10, at 10 a.m. A reception will follow.
