Carolyn Ingham Fensterer died May 6, 2010, in Chandler, Ariz., with her children by her side.

She was a resident of Westport from 1966 until 1985, when she moved to Danbury and worked at WestConn in the Theater Department.

Always an active member in the organizations she belonged to, she was district commissioner of the Poverty Hollow Pony Club in the 1970s and a union steward during her time at WestConn. In 2005, she fulfilled a lifelong dream and moved to Arizona. While there, she was very involved in Sheltie Rescue, for which she fostered abused dogs, rehabilitated them and helped them find homes.

She is survived by her two children, Julie Traum of Fairfield, and William Fensterer of Scanzorosciate, Italy; and four grandchildren, Christian, Andrew, Lillian and Thomas.

A memorial service will take place at 10 a.m. on June 30 at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-Arizona Sheltie Rescue at www.SheltieRescueAZ.com
