A brush fire on Elaine Road slowed train traffic on nearby Metro-North Railroad tracks for a short time Wednesday afternoon.
The fire burned an area near the town’s wastewater treatment center as well as the tracks, according to Fire Chief Andrew Kingsbury.
He said one engine was dispatched to the scene about 1:35 p.m. Wednesday.
“We called Grand Central and asked them to slow down the trains” passing by that area, he said, adding some Metro-North trains did pass by as the firefighters were extinguishing the blaze.
He said the scene was cleared by 2 p.m.
