The Broadway Boys, a group of six tenors with local connections, will perform a concert to benefit Staples Players and Northeast Children's Theatre Co. 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at Staples High School, 70 North Ave.
The group, which includes Staples alumni Drew McKeon, Dan Asher and Justin Paul and guitarist
Jeremy Goldsmith from Weston, will play new material ranging in style from soul and gospel to jazz and pop, according to a Broadway Boys news release.
Staples Players is the high school's theater group. The theater company is a Norwalk-based nonprofit provider of professional theatre programming and educational outreach to children and their families co-founded by Staples Player alumnus Tyler Paul, Justin Paul's brother.
Paul, musical director and a former member of Staples Players, said the group embraces "all musical styles" in its performances.
"We reach out to the next generation, and always strive to be innovative in our arrangements and performances," said Paul, a member of Staples' Class of 2003 who will play the piano.
The Broadway Boys' previous concert at the school was a huge success, according to the release.
"It's an evening of pure joy," Staples High School Principal John Dodig said. "Everyone left the theater with a smile on his or her face. I didn't stop talking about it for days."
The show is made possible in part by Westport residents Melissa and Doug Bernstein of Melissa
and Doug Educational Toys in Wilton, the release states.
