WESTPORT — A Bridgeport resident believed to have stolen multiple bicycles was charged Sept. 19 with sixth-degree larceny, police said.
Police arrested George Lopez, 56, in connection with a June complaint of a bike stolen from the Saugatuck Station bike rack, where it had been locked up, according to police.
Officers reviewed security footage taken at the station and observed a white or Hispanic man remove the lock and ride away. Lopez, who had been arrested before for the same crime, was identified by officers and interviewed, though he denied having committed the crime, according to the police report.
Based on the video surveillance footage, an arrest warrant was later issued for Lopez, who was picked up from State Police Troop G in Bridgeport.
Lopez was held on $5,000 bond ahead of a Sept. 27 court date.
