Beatrice Zallen Grossman

Born Sept. 28, 1921 in Worcester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Sadie and Morris Zallen. After graduating from Beth Israel Nursing School in Boston, she worked as a clinical instructor as well as a private nurse at several hospitals in New York City, California and Massachusetts. She was also a nurse in the U.S. Army and traveled to Germany after World War II with the non-profit agency Project Hope.
She met her future husband, Bertram Grossman, while working in Massachusetts and they married in 1958. She also enjoyed cooking, teaching courses and contributing columns to several Connecticut newspapers.
She is survived by daughters Mimi and husband Steve Levin of Boca Raton, Fla., Cindy Grossman of Boston, Roberta and husband Harold Bjornson of Westport, and Emily and husband Joshua Prince of Westport; six grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin and Greta Bjornson and Noah, Ivy and Maisie Prince, all of Westport; and her sister, Helen Gropen of Riverside, Calif. She was predeceased by her sister, Esther Sussman of Florida.
Services were held on Monday. Burial was in Beth El Memorial Park, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tifereth Israel Synagogue, 22 Newton Ave., Worcester, MA 01602.
