The sun came out and crowds blossomed Saturday at the annual Curio Cottage Thrift Shop Tag Sale at the Westport Woman's Club.

There were thousands of items available for purchase, from dishes, art and rugs to kitchen wares, toys and home decor, in both the Curio Cottage and the club's main building. Funds raised benefit more than 30 organizations that the club supports.

"We've come a long way since our first sale in 2000, which consisted of two drop cloths in the parking lot and total sales of $66," said Karen Eickhoff, chairwoman of the Thrift Shop.

Eickhoff said the sale helps move excess inventory in advance of a planned renovation of the cottage at the beginning of April. "We'll have new carpeting, paint, new shelving and lots of new items," she said.
