Bacon battle: Westport Farmers Market to host sizzling contest

What's better than bacon? A bacon contest -- and a sizzling competition is planned next Saturday at the Westport Farmers Market.
People are invited to enter their favorite bacon recipe in the contest, according to Lori Cochran, the market executive director.
There is one stipulation: The bacon used in entrants' recipes must be from one of the WFM farmers and the name of the farm must be noted on the entry, she said.
According to contest details, each entry -- a prepared dish-- needs to be brought to the farm market, located at 7 Sylvan Lane, inside Gilbertie's Herb Garden, by 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The contest will begin at 11 a.m.
