The Westport Public Library will host a talk by author Laura Schroff on her new book, "An Invisible Thread," at noon Thursday, May 3, in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

The book is about Schroff's chance meeting with a hungry little boy asking for change on a Manhattan street corner when she was an ad executive, according to a library news release.

Schroff has worked with several major media companies, helped launch a number of Time Inc. magazines and was also the New York division manager at People magazine.

The book's co-author, Alex Tresniowski, and Maurice Mazyck, the now-grown boy she befriended, will be at the talk.

Tresniowski has been a senior writer for People magazine and is also the author of six books.

Books will be available for purchase and signing.
