Author and photographer Mark Seth Lender will discuss his essays, "Salt Marsh Diary: A Year on the Connecticut Coast," on Wednesday at the Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road. The talk is set for 2 p.m. in the library's McManus Room.

Lender's essays were inspired by the wildlife he sees in his back yard. His reports on Connecticut wildlife sightings of birds like great horned owls and snowy egrets are broadcast on National Public Radio's "Living on Earth" and shared in his syndicated column, "Salt Marsh Diary." Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing afterward. A portion of the proceeds of book sales will benefit the library.

The talk is free and open to the public. For information, visit www.westportlibrary.org or call 203-291-4800.
