Westport Public Library will host a talk on 1959 play "A Raisin in the Sun" by professor Sharon Friedman at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

Friedman will attempt to bring a feminist lens to the work, which involves a black family in 1950s Southside Chicago and its quest for a piece of the American dream, according to a news release.

The free program, will be given in collaboration with the Westport Country Playhouse and its upcoming production of the play, written by Lorraine Hansberry and directed by Phylicia Rashad.

Friedman is associate professor of modern literature and drama at New York University. She has written many essays on feminism in 20th-century theater.
