Carrie Brown will discuss her new novel, "The Last First Day," on Friday, Oct. 18, at noon at The Westport Library. In the novel, the deep love the two main characters have for one another provides the structure for a story about the last phase in the life of a woman who had a harrowing childhood but a deeply satisfying life for decades afterward.
Brown is the author of five novels and a collection of short stories. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, the Barnes and Noble Discover Award, the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize and the Library of Virginia Award.
Books will be available for purchase and signing at the program, which is free.
