The Westport Arts Center has been awarded two state grants totaling more than $20,000, state Rep. Jonathan Steinberg, D-136, announced.

The money was awarded by the state Department of Economic and Community Development from its Artists in Every Community program and its Arts Leadership program, Steinberg said in a news release.

The two grants included $15,088 for sustaining relevance in the community and $5,000 for artists in the community, according to the release.

The programs are funded by state money federal money from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Community Investment Act.
