The Westport Downtown Merchants Association is seeking artists for its two annual art shows, Art About Town and the 40th annual Westport Fine Arts Festival. Applications are now being accepted for both juried exhibits.
Art About Town will display artwork in the windows of stores and restaurants throughout Westport's downtown shopping district from Thursday, May 23, to Sunday, June 16. Shops and restaurants will donate window and floor space for the exhibit and stay open late for an opening-night street party on Thursday, May 23. Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during the party to create a continuous gallery for viewing the artwork, according to a news release.
Event jurors will consider any media, including sculpture; all works must be available for purchase. The deadline for applications is March 22.
The Westport Fine Arts Festival, an art show that attracts collectors from throughout New England and New York, will take place on Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21, in downtown Westport along the Saugatuck River.
Applications are being accepted for works in oil, watercolor, photography, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture, drawing, glass, ceramics, fiber, jewelry, wood and digital art.
Original works will be chosen by a jury of experienced artists, working professionals and local community members. The deadline for applications is March 18.
