“Art Slam!” an inaugural event planned by the the Westport Arts Center's Teen Advisory Council, will take place Saturday.

The free art party, open to the public, is set from 6 to 8 p.m. at the arts center, 51 Riverside Ave.

Art Slam! will feature work by 12 local teens, local musicians will perform and refreshments will be available from food trucks.

Westport Family Counseling, the event sponsor, will have representatives on hand to lead an art therapy activity.

The showcased art work will range from digital photography to oil painting to pencil drawings. Members of the Teen Advisory Council selected the showcased artists, who with their selected works include:

Katherine Coogan, "Longshore;” · Madison Dick, “Living Life;” Sophie Driscoll, "Real;" Lauren Fraites, "Patterns in the Sky,” and Sarah Holmes, "Autumn Walk."

Also, Blair Marine, "It's a Grey Day;" Celeste Matte, "The Garden Arch;" Alexandra McMahon, "Tiger Lily;" Audrey Seo, "Fun with Knives;" Katherine Simpson, "Stay Gold, Ponyboy;" Alex Spadacenta, "Just Another Day,” and Rachel Wolfe, "Colorful Crab."

Art Slam! is planned and facilitated by TAC members, according to publicity for the event. Teens between the ages of 14 and 18, who had parental permission, were eligible to make submissions.
