Today's rainy weather has prompted sponsors of the Art About Town street party to postpone the event until next Thursday evening.

The Westport Downtown Merchants Association, which organizes the annual outdoor celebration, announced this morning that the party -- and the related event, "Tunnel Vision" -- will be postponed to the same time next Thursday, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. along Main Street and other downtown venues.

The event, in addition to the display of original artwork by dozens of local artists, will feature live music, strolling street performers, food and beverages served at pop-up outdoor cafes.

The artwork will remain on display -- and on sale -- at downtown stores and restaurants until June 15.

Tunnel Vision, the work of well-known local artist Miggs Burroughs, comprises newly painted murals on the walls of the pedestrian tunnel linking Main Street and Parker Harding Plaza. That also will be unveiled during the re-scheduled Art About Town.
