The Westport Arts Center has announced that Westport native Ann Sheffer will be honored at the Art Center's spring 2014 annual fundraising gala.

Sheffer has been a lead advocate for arts funding on the local, state, and national levels, according to Kristin Briner, Westport Arts Center board member, and co-chairwoman of the 2014 gala. Sheffer served on the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities under President Bill Clinton and was instrumental in the creation of the Westport Arts Advisory Committee. She currently serves on the Connecticut Advisory Committee for Culture and the Westport Country Playhouse board of trustees.

Sheffer has also been active in the Staples High School PTA/Alumni Association, the Westport Historical Society, the Westport Education Foundation, the League of Women Voters and the Westport Public Library.

The gala will be held on April 26, 2014.
