Activities planned at senior center

The Westport Center for Senior Activities has announces the following events at its 21 Imperial Ave. facility:

Gymnastics show: The Westport Weston Family Y's Showtime Gymnastics team will perform on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Cookies and beverages will be served, and the program is open to grandchildren.

Safe Driving: The AARP safe driver's course will be offered Monday, Dec. 17 from noon to 4 p.m. The will review trends and safety tips pertinent to older drivers. Successful completion qualifies older drivers for discounts on auto insurance rates Cost is $12 for an AARP members; $14.00 for nonmembers. Check should be payable to AARP.

Service providers: A presentation by a group that screens providers of various services -- handyman, house cleaning, technology assstance, health care and others -- is scheduled Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The organization, called LINKS, also offers social, cultural, wellness and educational programs.

Healthy cooking: Registered dietician a class on easy, healthy cooking for singles or couples on Thursday, Dec. 20 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The class will prepare wacky cake and chocolate-chocolate chip cookies. Cost is $6.

Checkers: A Staples High School student will be at the center Saturdays to play checkers or teach people how to play. One-hour appointments may be made from 9 to 10 a.m. or 10 to 11 a.m. by calling the center at 203-341-5099.
