Absentee ballots for the Nov. 3 municipal election are available Friday at the Town Clerk’s office in Town Hall.

The office in Room 105 is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours are planned Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to noon, to issue absentee ballots.

Registered voters may qualify for an absentee ballot, according to Town Clerk Patricia Strauss, if they meet these criteria:

Active service in U.S. armed forces.

Illness or physical disability.

Religious tenets, which forbid secular activity on the day of the election.

Duties as an election official at the polling place other than their own during all of the hours of voting.

Absence from town during all of the hours of voting Nov. 3.

An application for a ballot can be requested in person at the Town Clerk’s office or by calling 341-1110. The application form is also available online by downloading the form at www.westportct.gov.
