Still haven't made plans for the New Year's weekend? Here are some suggestions to ring in 2011 Westport-style:
Kick off the fun on Friday at First Night Westport, now in its 17th year. Activities start at 4 p.m. and include a 9:30 p.m. fireworks display. Buttons are $15; children 2 and under are free. Visit www.firstnightww.com or call 203-341-1041.
If you'd rather dance in the New Year, there's the Ballroom Elegance Dance Studio's New Year's Eve Ball from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Friday at 627 Post Road East. Tickets are $85 per person and reservations are required. Visit www.ballroomdancewestport.com or call 203-454-9400.
Made some New Year's resolutions? Put them in gear Saturday by visiting the New York Sports Club, 427 Post Road East. The fitness center will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the first day of 2011. For more information, call 203-221-0700.
After your workout -- perhaps to get you primed beforehand -- join Temple Israel's Polar Plunge at 11 a.m. Saturday at Compo Beach, near the fire pits and picnic tables. All contributions will be donated to charity. Call 203-227-1293 for more information.
Spend Sunday afternoon going face-to-face at the Westport Arts Center Studio Gallery, 51 Riverside Ave. The exhibit is "facebook fACES" 16-year-old Carson Einarsen's sketches of his friends' profile pictures on the popular social network. The gallery is open from noon to 4 p.m. For more information, call 203-222-7070 or visit www.westportartscenter.org.
