PUTNAM -- Two young children are unaccounted for following a house fire in Putnam, officials said.
The town's assistant fire chief told WTNH-TV at 7:15 a.m. that the children haven't been located, and that their mother has been hospitalized. Three males were were treated and released from Day Kimball Hospital. The unidentified woman has been transferred to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, WTNH reported.
Crews from several fire departments responded to the multifamily home on Prospect Street shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday. Officials say the home's roof was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
The names of the four injured residents haven't been released.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Officials with the state fire marshal's office have been called to the scene.
