The Connecticut Humane Society has announced that more than $25,000 was raised at its recent 2012 fall gala, "Passport to a Forever Home" at the Inn at Longshore.

The funds raised will support the society's lifesaving programs and services for pets and their families, according to a release.

The travel-themed event included a silent auction for several items, among them NCAA Final Four Tickets, travel packages and Hermes accessories. Guests enjoyed performances from Broadway stars, including Kristin Huffman, actress and artistic director of the New Paradigm Theatre.

Among those in attendance were U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, state Sen. Toni Boucher and state Rep. Gail Lavielle.
