Several Staples swimmers achieve All-FCIAC and All-State Honors while also setting new school records during the 2017 season.
Finishing the season with a third place in FCIAC, third in Class LL and third in the CIAC State Open competition, the 2017 Staples High School Girls Swim Team placed six Staples girls swimmers on the All-FCIAC and All-State Honor roll.
These six Wreckers led the Staples team to a 3rd place overall finish at the FCIAC, Class LL and State Open Championship, accumulating five first place medals at FCIAC and a pair of first place medals at State Open (Healy - 50 Free and Hunter - 100 Free).
At the Class LL competition, second places were the medley relay of Hunter, Willow Woods, Healy and Annie Bowens, the 200 IM Woods, the 50 free and 100 fly, Healy, the 100 free and 100 Back, Hunter and the 400 free relay of Healy, Michelle Kennedy, Mia Fraas and Hunter. Healy’s 50 Free (23.54) and 100 Free lead-off in the 400 Free Relay (51.04) both set new SHS records and achieved All-American Consideration status.
The Wreckers All-FCIAC and All-State Relays won first place at FCIAC and second place honors at the Class LL meet.
During the championship season, both Wrecker Relay teams set several new school records, 2 new FCIAC Records, and both relays achieved All American Consideration time standards.
