A 14-year-old girl riding her bicycle was hit by a Fort Bend County deputy constable in a pickup in the Katy area Friday morning.
The incident happened about 6:30 a.m. on Gaston near Fry Road, said Bob Haenel, spokesman for the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
Haenel said the girl, whose name has not been released, was transported to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Center. Haenel said she had head injuries, but her condition was not released.
Officials with Katy Independent School District said the girl is a freshman at Seven Lakes High School at 9251 Fry Road. She was on her way to school when she was hit. The school sent an email to their students' parents informing them that the incident had occurred.
The Precinct 3 deputy constable was on duty and driving a marked pickup. He was not injured.
Haenel said investigators are at scene trying to determine how the incident occurred.
More information will be reported as the story develops.
