An investigation of a person who was struck and killed by a Metro-North train delayed service on the New Haven Line for several hours on Wednesday.

The person was struck in Port Chester, N.Y. just before 5:30 a.m.

Metro-North has delays up to 40 minutes on the New Haven Line until late Wednesday morning.

Metro-North spokeswoman Nancy Gamerman said the person was struck by the 5:13 a.m. westbound train out of Stamford.

The name of the person killed has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation will seek to determine why, what Metro-North described as an “unauthorized person,” was on the tracks.
