With the state championship in hand, Westport Little League's quest for Williamsport now moves to Bristol.

The 12-year-old all-stars will open the New England regional against South Burlington, Vt. on Friday at 8:15 p.m. at Bristol's Breen Field. That will mark the first of four pool play games Westport will play in the six-team tournament.

The top four teams will advance from pool play, with the semifinals on Aug. 8 and the championship game on Aug. 10.

The other representatives will be Saco-Maremont (Maine), Lincoln (Rhode Island), Newton South East (Massachusetts) and Rye (New Hampshire).

Westport -- 12-0 dating back to the start of Connecticut pool play -- earned its first trip to the New England regional after beating Coginchaug (8-2, 9-1) in the best-of-three state finals.

The winner of the regional will advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., which begins Aug. 15.
