Author, documentary filmmaker and audio tape producer Julian Padowicz will present "Learning In My 70s What I Wish I Had Known In My 20s," the first of a "Seniors Speak" series, during the Westport-Weston AARP's monthly meeting on Jan. 19 at the Westport Center for Senior Activities.

Padowicz will talk about the course his life has taken and the creative thinking process he experienced. Padowicz was born in Poland in 1932 into a wealthy Jewish family, and at age 7 was living in Warsaw when World War II began. His books "Mother and Me: Escape from Warsaw 1939" and "A Ship in the Harbor" recount his wartime memoirs.

Padowicz received a degree in English from Colgate University and served five years in the Air Force as an intercept instructor and navigator before his 35-year career as a documentary filmmaker. Although he retired in 1991, Padowicz continued to write books on photography, dealing with angry customers, and Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt in addition to his memoirs.

The AARP meeting begins at 1 p.m. For more information, call Barbara Stemmer at 203-226-2564.
