When it comes to real estate, Houston is a great place to stretch your dollar, according to sales data from online marketplace Zillow.

Based on the average price per square foot in each major city, a million dollars will get you more than 10,000 square feet of space in Houston. That's a pretty palacial amount. It's also more space than you could buy with $1 million in nearly every other major U.S. city.

We've rounded up some of Houston's best million-dollar homes in the slideshow above. Some of the houses are small, yet beautifully upgraded, while others are sprawling properties with plenty of room to spread out, and they could each be yours for a cool million.
