One driver was hospitalized with injuries suffered in a three-car crash Tuesday afternoon on the Merritt Parkway in Westport. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the three-car accident, between the highway's northbound Exits 42 and 44, shortly after 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. One of the drivers was taken by Westport EMS to Norwalk Hospital for treatment of injuries. No other serious injuries were reported, according to firefighters. An absorbent substance was spread on the road's surface to soak up fluids spilled by vehicles in the crash. The accident is being investigated by State Police.

Matthew Jones, 52, of Kings North Highway, was arrested Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear in court for charges related to a Jan. 20 domestic violence incident. He was charged with second-degree failure to appear and released on $500 bond. He was scheduled to appear Monday in Norwalk Superior Court.

An off-duty out-of-town police officer driving behind Younger on Saugatuck Avenue saw him swerve across the road, nearly hitting several trees and stone walls off the right shoulder of the roadway, police said. Younger was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failure to drive right.

Joseph Vaccarella, 69, of Keyser Road, was arrested Friday, after he got into a verbal and physical altercation with another man over his driving speed, police said. The dispute was triggered when the man yelled at Vaccarella to "slow down" as he drove past the man's house, who lives in the same neighborhood as Vaccarella, police added. Vaccarella was charged with breach of peace and released on a written promise to appear Feb. 14 in Norwalk Superior Court.

Miriam Bernstein, 23, of Sturges Highway, surrendered Friday at police headquarters on a driving-under-the-influence warrant related to December motor vehicle crash. After the accident, officers smelled alcohol on Bernstein's breath, police said, but she was transported to Norwalk Hospital for medical treatment. Police later applied for a warrant for her arrest. Bernstein was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, traveling unreasonably fast and failure to drive right. She was released on $2,500 bond, and is scheduled to appear Feb. 13 in Norwalk Superior Court.
