For the first time in at least 10 years, the Weston football team defeated Notre Dame of Fairfield. Weston bested Notre Dame 34-20 at home on Saturday to raise its record to 2-0. Notre Dame dropped to 0-2.

Trojan senior captain Eddie Hutchins was a difference-maker by rushing for 163 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Hutchins scored two touchdowns, including the go-ahead score which gave Weston the lead for good on a 6-yard run in the third quarter with 2:01 remaining. He iced the game with a 36-yard touchdown run with 3:38 left in the game.

Before scoring the game-winner, Hutchins pinned the Lancers on their 8-yard line with a 45-yard punt. With the Trojans clinging to a four-point lead, senior Carmine Magnoli sacked Notre Dame quarterback Daquan Coleman for a safety to make it 26-20.

Senior Jacob Spencer scored two touchdowns for Weston, recovering a blocked punt in the end zone after senior captain Jack Crowell blocked a punt, and he caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Tyler Hassett. Junior JD Simons kicked a 21-yard field goal as well for the Trojans.
