Saturday’s high school football roundup: McNamara, Cotto power Bullard-Havens’ win

BRIDGEPORT -- Chris McNamara rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns and Jose Cotto added 103 yards and two scores as the Bullard-Havens football team rolled past Vinal Tech/East Hampton 40-14 in an CSC game Saturday.

McNamara had scoring runs of 38, 54 and 49 yards, while Cotto scored on runs of 3 and 9 yards for the Tigers (2-1).

Wesley Raffington had a 16-yard touchdown run and Alberto Moya tackled a runner in the end zone for a safety to complete the scoring for Bullard-Havens.

Defensively, Hakeem Fletcher led the way with 11 tackles, while Khalil Content added eight tackles and one sack.

STAPLES 63, WESTHILL 14

STAMFORD -- Jack Massie passed for four touchdowns and rushed for another score -- all in the first half of the Wreckers' win over the Vikings.

Massie scored the first points of the game for Staples (2-1, 2-0 FCIAC) on a 22-yard in the first quarter. The Wreckers would score 35 straight points to open the game, taking a 42-7 lead into halftime. Massie passed for only 87 yards in the game, but connected on touchdowns with Patrick Lesch (16, 6 yards), Will Johnson (26) and Bryan Porter (5).

Johnson and Jack Mendillo added touchdowns on interception returns and Tyler Tsang and Teddy Coogan each rushed for a score to round out Staples' scoring.

For Westhill (1-2, 1-1), Evan Skoparantzos caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Coppola and Josh Exantus scored on a 16-yard run.

MCMAHON 21, DANBURY 7

DANBURY -- Timmy Hinton rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Senators over the Hatters.

Hinton scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter and on an 80-yard run in the fourth quarter for McMahon, which improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the FCIAC. Kentrell Snider gave the Senators the lead for good with his 6-yard touchdown run with 4:40 left in the third quarter.

Danbury (1-2, 1-1) tied the game at 7-7 on Anferny Ith's 5-yard touchdown pass to Pierre Moudourou in the first quarter.

WILTON -- John D'Elisa and Brett Phillips each scored a pair of touchdowns in the Warriors non-league win over the Hornets.

Patrick Ryan also scored a touchdown for Wilton, which improved to 2-1.

Branford's record fell to 0-3.

WESTON 42, IMMACULATE 20

DANBURY -- Erik Dammen-Brower rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another score to lead the Trojans over the Mustangs.

Dammen-Brower had a hand in three of Weston's four touchdowns in the team's 28-point second quarter. He rushed for touchdowns on runs of 1 and 3 yards and completed the only pass he attempted in the game to Jason Lawrence (23 yards) for another score.

Peter Lummis added 143 yards rushing and one touchdown, Michael Santa-Maria added 89 yards rushing and two scores and Lawrence chipped in 83 yards on the ground for the Trojans.

Darel Bowman was responsible for all of the scoring for Immaculate (0-3) with touchdown rushes of 42, 3 and 40 yards and a two-point conversion run in the fourth quarter.

GREENWICH -- Nick Cascicone passed for 220 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for three touchdowns as the Rams topped the Cardinals to improve to 3-0.

Cascione completed 14 of 27 passes, including touchdowns to Alex LaPolice (29 yards) and Jack Gilio (31). He also scored on runs of 3, 4 and 6 yards in the first half, as New Canaan jumpmed out to a 38-6 halftime lead.

Cole Harris added back-to-back touchdowns for the Rams -- on a 24-yard interception return and on a 25-yard blocked punt return -- and Frank Cognetta (102 yards rushing) and Morgan Carson each had a rushing touchdown.

Austin Longi, Tommy Rappa and Jose Melo had one touchdown apiece for Greenwich (1-2).
