With the balance of its schedule already in doubt, the Immaculate football team learned it will be without coach Tom Taylor for the remainder of the season Thursday, according to athletic director Jeff Castaldi.

Citing what Castaldi called "personal reasons," Taylor stopped conducting practices Thursday. Assistant coaches ran a practice without him.

Taylor's status for seasons beyond this one is unclear.

"It's unfortunate," Castaldi said. "I'm not happy about it."

Taylor could not be reached for comment Thursday night. Hired in May 2012 to recreate the turnarounds he oversaw in previous head coaching stints at Brookfield and New Milford, Taylor inherited low numbers at Immaculate and the Mustangs continued to struggle, their losing streak extending to 43 games with Friday's impending forfeit to Stratford. Castaldi said the Mustangs still intend to honor their remaining junior varsity commitments.
