The American Cancer Society is seeking participants for a study that will examine the genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors that can cause or prevent cancer.

The society is looking for volunteers between the ages of 30 and 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer (not including basal or squamous cell skin cancer).

Partipants will have to make an appointment to enroll in the study.

The cancer society is sponsoring enrollment sessions all over the state. There will be enrollments in Farmington, Hartford and Granby this month and in Norwalk, Stamford, New Canaan, Naugatuck, Waterbury and Middletown in June.

During your enrollment, you will be required to sign a consent form, complete a brief survey, have your waist measured and give a small blood sample.

After enrolling, you will be periodically mailed surveys to complete at home. Surveys will ask about your personal health and lifestyle habits as well as details of your family history.

To register for an appointment, visit
