<![CDATA[ Two people familiar with the contract told The Associated Press on Friday that the restricted free agent with three years in the NFL had signed the tender while he works on a long-term deal with the Giants.

An undrafted free agent in 2010 out of Massachusetts who became a star with the Giants as they won the 2011 NFL title, Cruz is coming off a Pro Bowl season.

Cruz has become extremely popular with Giants fans for the salsa he performs after each touchdown, and for his work in the community. ]]>

<![CDATA[ Winslow, who turns 30 next month but said his sometimes troublesome knees were healthy, adds depth to a position thin on experience after New York allowed Dustin Keller to leave as a free agent.

Jeff Cumberland, with 32 career catches in three seasons, has been the projected starter, with Konrad Reuland, a solid blocker, and former rugby player Hayden Smith the backups.

Before leaving the team's locker room Thursday, Winslow said he hadn't heard yet if he would be signed by the Jets but made it clear he thought he could add something to Marty Mornhinweg's offense.

Winslow, the son of Hall of Famer and former Chargers star Kellen Winslow, was a first-round draft pick of Cleveland in 2004.

After a broken right leg as a rookie and a torn knee ligament the next year, Winslow had 89 catches in 2006 and made the Pro Bowl as an alternate the following year. ]]>

<![CDATA[ (AP) — Tom Brady celebrated his completion by throwing his hands into the air and shouting as if it was a game-winning catch.

[...] to Brady, it was a sign that he and his likely top wide receiver are making progress as he tries to develop chemistry with a new group.

In the offseason, the New England Patriots parted with Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd following a season in which they were the team's top two pass catchers.

Brady knows it will take time to develop chemistry with his new receivers but was excited when Amendola made a catch over the middle during an 11-on-11 drill on Tuesday, the first day of minicamp.

Two rookie draft choices are missing valuable time doing that.

Even if it was a great offensive play, (Belichick's) going to yell at someone on the defense.

The quarterback certainly wasn't and showed the same passion he's displayed encouraging teammates on the sideline during games.

The foundation built in organized team activities and minicamp carries over to training camp and sets the stage for the regular season. ]]>
