New Jersey police yesterday apprehended a male during a bank robbery who later admitted to robbing in Connecticut and New Jersey, including Commerce Bank in Westport.

According to Westport police, the suspect robbed the bank, located at 185 Main St., on Jan. 13.

The suspect was identified as being Huy Trong Luong, 39, of Jersey City, N.J. Luong was apprehended as he fled the area in a mini-van. Luong was due in federal court in Newark, N.J. on May 5 for that attempted robbery.

When he was apprehended, he was wearing a disguise as he did in the Westport robbery. Also recovered in Luong's vehicle was a hoax bomb. During the Westport robbery, the suspect stated he had a bomb in a bag he was carrying. The loss in the Commerce Bank robbery in Westport was more than $2,000.
