Norwalk psychotherapist and Weston resident Barbara Heffernan will be presenting a two-day workshop, "Mindfulness in Practice: A Program for Psychotherapists," on November 5 and 6 in Stamford.
In addition to focusing on contemplative exercises, the workshop will review recent research into the positive neurobiological changes which occur with regular mindfulness meditation. The workshop is appropriate for psychotherapists and other mental health professionals who are new to mindfulness meditation or for those who would like to expand their ability to bring mindfulness into their everyday lives and their work. It has been approved for 12.5 Continuing Education Credits by the National Association of Social Workers.
Heffernan has a private psychotherapy practice in Norwalk which focuses on anxiety, trauma, addiction and life transitions. Heffernan uses cognitive-nehavioral therapy, EMDR, meditation and visualization in her practice and her workshops.
The program is sponsored by Tail of the Tiger, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing mindfulness to various professions.
